How to Deal with People (especially friends, family members and close people) Who Don’t Support Your Business
They are people close to you that won’t support your business. Especially the people you thought would.
Friends to family members to colleagues and even some mentors.
Here’s how to deal with it and still win big, like a founder who builds unstoppable momentum:
Most people expect applause. But what you get is silence. You show up online. Post your offer. Launch something.
And the people closest to you scroll past or say nothing. It’s not just painful for some people, it’s distracting.
Here’s how to move like a true builder anyway.
1. Stop expecting emotional validation from vision spectators.
Your family or friends may love you, but not understand what you're building. You must be comfortable with this hard truth.
They weren’t there in the private moments when the vision formed. Don’t expect them to clap and support you especially in the early days.
✅ Application: Stop seeking likes from your sisters, cousins, friends etc. Focus on the client in your DMs asking for results.
2. Separate love from support. They’re not always the same.
Your mom can love you and still not buy your product or service.
Your friend can believe in you as a person and not share your business page.
✅ Application: If you run a physical boutique, don't wait for your best friend to buy. Focus on Instagram stories that attract new clients. Focus on creating fashion videos on TikTok that attract clients and build a great brand.

3. Let pain become your pivot, not your prison.
The disappointment of people close to you not supporting your business should not paralyze you.
Use it as fuel to get sharper, louder, better in your industry.
✅ Application: Record a video about your journey and why you still showed up today. Share that. Turn your pain into a lead magnet.
4. Stop trying to prove people wrong.
This is for babies and immature people.
Start proving your products and services right.
Don’t waste energy trying to "show them."
Use that energy to serve one real customer. Then two. Then 100. Then thousands.
✅ Application: Package your product or service and promote it. Don't announce it to family, announce it to the market.
5. Replace entitlement with strategy.
You’re not owed attention, even by people who love you.
Earn influence through clear value & strategy, not expectations.
✅ Application: Your church members might ignore your flyer, but 500 strangers might subscribe. Create a strategy to reach more strangers with your value and stop the entitlement mentality.
6. Invest more in strangers than your circle.
This is what I told a lady in a coaching session I had with her. Intentionally push to reach more people beyond your circle.
You can build a 7-figure brand from complete strangers on the internet. Don’t limit your vision to your village people.
✅ Application: Offer a paid Zoom session. Promote it in Facebook groups and LinkedIn. Your aunt may not show up, but a CEO might.
7. Build credibility in the wild, not comfort.
You have no marketplace credibility if only your close circle can vouch for you.
Your personal circle sees your past. The marketplace sees your packaging.
Build trust in the field, that’s where your authority grows.
✅ Application: Design a Canva brochure for your services. Use it to pitch HR managers, not your uncle at a wedding or a family gathering.

8. Create offers too valuable to ignore.
When your offer is powerful, your audience will extend beyond your circle.
Obscurity breaks when results speak louder than rejection.
✅ Application: Bundle your expertise into an “Offer Vault” and sell it. Let the market validate you and not your circle of friends and family members.
9. Measure progress, not applause.
You’re not building your business for claps. You’re building for impact, influence, and income.
Track progress, not public praise.
✅ Application: Create a spreadsheet. List all wins this month like consultations, DMs, feedback, sales and watch your confidence shift.
10. Move in silence until the market makes noise for you.
Eventually, those who ignored you will ask how you did it.
Not because you complained and cried but because you stayed the course and kept building.
